Sharing Seeds

I’mma Indigenous Permacultist and, for various reasons, i’m not doing any farming/gardening/chicken chasing this southern hemisphere summer. Which creates the challenge of what to do with all the seeds in my modest-ish seed bank that are approaching the end of their viability. Solution: post me a a self-addressed envelope and i will stuff that envelope with seeds and post it back. Feel free to enclose suggestions of what seeds you’d like but I make no promises.

Let’s defend Seed Freedom to defend our Future – Italy – Petition

With the verdict of the European Court on July 12th, the ban on trading of traditional and biodiverse seeds, which have not been registered in the official European catalogue has been confirmed. Since 1998 a European directive is in force, which confines the trading and the exchange of seeds to the seeds companies (Corporations). Seed is the source of life, it is the self urge of life to express itself, to renew itself, to multiply, to evolve in perpetuity in freedom. There is no Food Freedom without Seed Freedom.

Nara Petrovic: sustainable living lectures

Through our development we have developed many laws, distancing our natural selves away from our social persona. The exploration of ecology was displaced by the laws of economy. Nara will remind us of our basic natural values and the healthy foundations of communities. The combination of rich experience and sincere energy makes the lectures exceptionally inspirational.

Seeds and Bicycles

Local and heirloom seeds that are raised and grown in one farm will be transported to another by four volunteer cyclists.

As a part of the “Long Live Seeds” project by Bugday Association, 134 rare and local seeds were identified throughout Turkey. Then the seeds were collected and sown through Bugday’s ecological farm network, TaTuTa (www.tatuta.org). After the harvest, the seeds collected and preserved will be exchanged between farms and seed enthusiasts.

For the Seed Freedom Fortnight Action, four volunteer cyclists will transport the heirloom seeds from one farm to another in Kaz (Ida) Mountains. Sustainability of food will be secured by a sustainable form of transportation, bicycles.

BUILDing Community Seed Resilience ~ Seed Exchange

Calling all Urban Farmers and Seed Savers!

Seeds are the vital ink to our past and to our future. Bio-diversity and local resiliency is more important than ever.

As a way to strengthen and promote localized food systems, the band Rupa and the April Fishes are on a world tour sharing their music that involves an awakening to the current system we find ourselves in and in helping to build a new paradigm that makes the current on obsolete.

At all these shows we are conducting a Seed Exchange of heirloom, organic and rare seeds from around the world. In alliance with Native SEED Search and Seed Matters, this action is to help empowering people in growing food and saving their own seeds.

Additionally, we will have info about open pollinated, heirloom, hybrid, and GMO seeds. We will share examples of seed actions we are taking, and why we feel seed saving is good for nature and for maintaining plant diversity. There will also be lots of seed giveaways: vegetables, herbs, and wildflowers including seeds grown at Carriage House Farm.
